Mission & Activities

Reaching Hearts Through Sign Language

Grace Church of Mentor's mission includes reaching out to the deaf and hearing-impaired in our community for the cause of Christ. To this end, we provide sign language interpreting and electronic hearing assistance devices for all of our Sunday morning worship services.

Sign Language Interpretation

Our trained interpreters provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for all Sunday morning services, including singing and preaching, ensuring that the message of God’s Word is accessible to everyone. With more than 20 years of experience in church ministries, our signing team leaders know how to communicate Biblical preaching and music in a simple way. A growing team of interpreters is available for other services and classes as needed.

Hearing Assistance Devices

We offer electronic hearing assistance devices to enhance the auditory experience for those who need them, making it easier to engage fully in our worship service. Closed captioning is available for all online services.

Christian Relationships & Bible Study

We create opportunities for the deaf and hearing-impaired to connect with each other and with Christ through our services, Bible studies, and fellowship activities. We love to study the Bible together. We can connect you with other believers and, most importantly, with Christ and His love for you.

Kevin and Sarah Sherman have been serving in Zambia since 2014. Kevin serves as a deacon at Faith Baptist Riverside, and both teach at Central Africa Baptist College. Kevin is also in the midst of a PhD program.

Puerto Rico

Melvin Purvis serves the Lord as Administrative Dean at Puerto Rico Baptist College in Bayamón, training young men for ministry. He was widowed in 2023 and recently recovered from a hip replacement surgery.
