Over 125 pastors and lay leaders representing 56 churches from 22 states and 2 Canadian provinces were at Grace last week to learn about developing a disciple-making culture.

70 attended the discipleship seminar on Monday and Tuesday, and another group came for the advanced seminar beginning on Wednesday.

Over 5 days, the following topics were covered:

• A Biblical Theology of Discipleship
• A History of Divergent Views of Sanctification that Influence Discipleship Today
• Discipleship as the Local Church’s Expectant Activity
• Developing the Local Church’s Culture of Disciple-Making
• Discipling Teens in the Local Church
• How A Local Church’s Strategic Mission and Vision Influence Discipleship
• Vital Signs of Disciple-Making Churches
• Mentoring Men: The Great Weakness of Bible-Believing Churches
• Multiplying Disciples in Your Midst and Beyond
• Developing Lay Leadership in the Local Church

Several people who have been discipling others at Grace shared testimonies during lunch breaks. They talked about blessings and challenges of leading another believer and how they have grown through studying the Bible together. On Wednesday night, attendees observed many people studying the Bible together and got to ask them questions. Many pastors found these real-life examples of discipleship in the local church to be very helpful.

For those who have already taken the disciple-making seminar and begun to implement it in their local church, the advanced seminar offered practical, round-table style discussions with others who are working out this culture with their people.

We are very grateful for dozens of volunteers from Grace who helped with meals, housing, transportation, and childcare for the whole week. The team effort makes our ministry that much more effective!

Please pray that the Lord would use what each attendee heard and saw so all will return to their churches more encouraged to continue to do the Great Commission!
