A combined mission team of teenagers and handymen are in Ketchikan, Alaska, this week. They will be helping Pastor John Judson with outreach and work projects. Here are some updates and pictures from their trip!

The group left on Thursday morning for the long journey to Alaska. Three hours in a van, two flights, and one ferry ride later, they arrived!

On Friday, the first task for the youth group team was handing out Gospel tracts at the Ketchikan docks, a popular stop for cruise ships. There were 4 cruise ships docked that day, with over 9,000 people coming through the port.

In the afternoon, teens began painting rooms in the church while the work team tore down the old porch. Once they got the decking off, some of the main beams were falling apart. The porch would have collapsed before the end of the season.

Saturday was a church picnic including freshly caught salmon. All enjoyed sweet fellowship as brothers and sisters in Christ. Next came a trip to Settlers Cove where the brave ones jumped into 50-degree water!

On Sunday, they worshiped with the congregation of Gateway Baptist Church. Four teens (Aidan Holloman, Isabelle Coiro, Seth Hixson, and Peter Hart) gave testimonies in Sunday school, and James Fordyce taught a lesson. The whole group sang for special music, and Pastor Steve preached for the morning service. Sunday evening held more singing, preaching, and fellowship around a bonfire and cookie contest.

Please pray for the team!

  • Pray for dry weather so they can accomplish what they've set out to do.
  • Pray for effective ministry, that God would bring about salvation and encouragement as a result.
