Pastor Steve, Pastor Kent, and a group of teens and men traveled to New York City to help church-planting Pastor Tim Richmond. All 17 people stayed in the Richmonds’ home while they took on multiple tasks to renovate the house’s exterior.

The teens painted the entire exterior of the 3-story house in 3 days. On the first rainy day, they power washed the house and prepped the railings. Tuesday’s beautiful weather allowed them to spray the trim and half of the body of house. The painting was finished on Wednesday.

While the teens worked on painting, the men’s team tore down and rebuilt the front railings of the house.

All told, the teen projects included scraping, stripping, filling, sanding, priming, and painting the house’s original front columns; doing the same for the wrought iron fencing; painting two large cinderblock walls; and plenty of miscellaneous taping, moving hoses and ladders, and yard cleanup.

They cleaned up the house after each day’s work and helped provide the most important fuel for a project: food. Everyone quickly learned that the men’s team was very fond of ice cream after a hard day’s work!

In the midst of all the work, the group also had time to see New York City and fellowship with Pastor Tim. The teens were unified, worked well together, accomplished their mission, and came home stronger for it.
