The Impenetrable Love of God.

Prayer is essential for physical protection and spiritual safety (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2). Our safety is not to be taken for granted. We have been investigating layers of spiritual protection from Romans 8 for those who are in Christ. Verses 33-34 ask two more questions without an immediate answer.

"Who will bring a charge against God’s elect?"

The elect are children of God, the objects of His love. Practically, there are many ways that unbelievers falsely accuse those who know Christ. But these are never successful on a spiritual plain. God declares His chosen children positionally righteous, and they are forever safe and secure in Christ. Satan is the accuser of the elect, telling God's children they are not who God says they are (Zechariah 3:1-5, 2 Timothy 2:5). But ultimately, these accusations cannot stand.

"Who is the one who condemns?"

If there is no legal charge, then there cannot be condemnation. Saving faith always perseveres through failure because of God's grace (Luke 22:31-34). Jesus Himself intercedes His righteousness on our behalf and asserts our practical perseverance. Both are tied to His Word (John 17:13-19). He has the answer to all charges brought against the children of God (Hebrews 7:18-28).

Through the Word, the Spirit, and the people of God, God's elect children are enabled to withstand any accusation. As Bible commentator Alva J. McClain said, "The only person who can condemn you died for you. Today, you are either His child and safe from all accusations because you are in Christ or you are unsafe, and all spiritual accusations against you spiritually and practically are legitimate accusations, and you stand defenseless, because the court of Heaven and earth in Christ cannot stand with you and defend you."

A Hymn to Encourage: "Thank You, Lord"

Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul.
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole.
Thank you, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free!
