Our Theme Verse

and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:15

We are passionate about equipping our children with the truth of Scripture so that they may one day become men and women who love Christ and honor His Word. Our children’s curriculum focuses on Bible truth presented in creative, fun, and memorable ways.

Kids 4 Truth

Sunday Mornings & Wednesday Evenings

Our Kids 4 Truth Bible clubs give children a chance to have fun while earning badges, singing, memorizing Bible verses, and most importantly, developing a genuine relationship with God. The songs, verses, and lessons are part of a unified curriculum that grows deeper as your child grows.

As a church, we value our role in raising up godly young people. But parents (and grandparents) are the most important spiritual influence in a child’s life (2 Timothy 1:5). That’s why we work hard to communicate with parents, enabling you to get involved in teaching your children and reaffirming what they’ve learned here. Because the Kids 4 Truth curriculum is structured to grow with your children, your 2nd grader and your 6th grader will each be taught the same basic Bible truths in an age-appropriate manner. You’ll also get email updates and discussion guides so your whole family can stay on the same page.

Grace Kids’ Club

Summer Wednesday Evening Bible Club

We all need a break sometimes. On Wednesday nights in the summer, our kids take a break from memory verses for a while and play! We play outside when the weather permits and we play inside when it doesn’t. We have a short, simple Bible lesson, too. Kids who participate and bring friends earn rewards all summer long. Grace Kids’ Club wraps up at the end of the summer on Race Day, our big pine car derby tournament—complete with special prizes and a photo finish!

Grace Church of Mentor's mission includes reaching out to the deaf and hearing impaired in our community for the cause of Christ. To this end we provide sign language interpreting and electronic hearing assistance devices for all of our services. Our team of trained signers interpret music and the preaching of the Word of God to the deaf and hearing impaired. With more than 20 years of experience in church ministries, our interpreters know how to communicate Biblical preaching and music in a simple way. We can help connect you with other believers, and most importantly, with Christ and His love for you.

We invite you to join us for our Sunday and Wednesday services and Bible studies. Childcare is always provided. For additional information, contact Denver.

Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.

1 Corinthians 2:9

The promise of heaven is precious to all believers, but none more so than the elderly who have watched their independence slip away. It takes uniquely-gifted people to minister to these souls. Our nursing home teams reach out to two local nursing homes, investing their lives in the residents and their families.

We worship together, singing hymns from our giant-print songbooks. We pray together, sharing our physical and spiritual needs. We share the good news of Jesus Christ and His encouragment to believers.

You can join us for church the third Sunday of every month at the following locations:

At Grace, we recognize the value of our freedom in the United States. That's why we seek to honor those who fight to preserve it.

Veterans

We can never repay the sacrifices our veterans have made. Nor do we pretend that we can relate to the unique challenges veterans face, both during active duty and when they come home. But we can offer truth and encouragement from the Bible and the good news of Jesus Christ, "...who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us," (Ephesians 3:20). This life-changing power can be seen in the lives of our military ministry leaders, who are veterans themselves. They understand the difficulties involved in re-adjusting to civilian life and dealing with combat-related stress. As such, they are uniquely gifted to share their experiences with other veterans, and to guide them to answers from the Bible.

Active Duty Outreach

Operation Everlasting Freedom

Military life is difficult. Even amidst all that structure, it can be hard to find spiritual stability. We want to do everything we can to help our military friends and family members. That is the motivation behind Operation Everlasting Freedom:

  • to reach out to active duty service men and women through mailings and care packages
  • to reach out to military families in the surrounding communities through prayer and encouragement
  • to provide spiritual encouragement and accountability to our veterans

For more information on our military ministry, contact Pastor Kent Hobi.

Love, Grow, Serve

Pastor Steve Sindelar leads our mighty passel of lovable teenagers (grades 7-12).

Yep, they’re Millennials. They love video games, iPads, mp3 players, food and sports as much as any other teenager, but these teens are set apart—destined to do great things for God’s Kingdom and His glory.

L.I.G.H.T

LIGHT is our theme. Some might call it our mission. What does the acrostic mean? We’ll let you read for yourself…

  • Love for God and others
  • Intentional for Christ’s Advantage
  • Growing as disciples and disciple-makers
  • Have this mind in you: Serve
  • Thankfulness in word and example

Ministry Values

We are teenagers that are passionate about God, eager to realize our potential in Christ, and looking to serve others. We strive to:

Love God

God loved us enough to send His son to die for us. It is not hard to WANT to love God, but most don’t know how to REALLY love Him. Thankfully, God tells us how in the Bible. Come to Youth Group and learn for yourself.

Grow in Christ

We all are growing, but what are we growing into? God gave us an example in His Son, Jesus. Youth Group is a place that encourages growth in Christ! We are teenagers that are passionate about God, eager to realize our potential in Christ, and looking to serve others.

Serve Others

Service is a result of loving God (and understanding His love for you) and Christlikeness. Be around us enough and you’ll see we are intentional about serving others!

Pastor Steve & Charla

Pastor Steve Sindelar leads the teens at Grace. He has a tremendous passion for the souls of young people and a unique ability to connect with teens. He loves music and gadgets. Rumor has it he was a teenager once.

Charla serves alongside her husband in youth ministry, working with teens and helping with special events. She’s even been known to pound out a song or two on the piano when the need arises.

Pastor Steve’s Bio

We understand how critical it is that parents can trust the people watching their children. Who can focus on a church service while they’re worried about their kids? Parents also want to know that their kids are enjoying themselves. Our goal is to provide a safe, loving environment for children to enjoy while their parents take part in worship.

A Safe Place to Leave Your Children

Child care safety is a priority at Grace, and one which we take seriously. Here are some of the measures we take to ensure your child’s safety:

Age-Appropriate Play

We have five age groups, from newborn to kindergarten, so your child will play with kids his or her own age.

Trustworthy Staff

Our volunteer staff are all faithful members at Grace. All adult volunteers submit to a background check and receive ongoing reminders of appropriate behavior for workers in our ministry. We maintain sensible accountability measures to ensure that children and adults are never left alone.

Health & Safety

Children play with toys designed for their ages. Toys and other items are regularly cleaned, sanitized, and checked for safety. There is always a licensed medical professional on call to handle emergencies. We hold periodic emergency drills and have a team of leaders designated to assist the child care staff in the event of an evacuation.

Security

We use an efficient check-in system to ensure that every child is picked up by an authorized adult. Our Child Care Wing is under constant watch before, during, and after services. A single point of entry ensures that only authorized individuals can enter the Child Care Wing. We keep in contact with local law enforcement and we monitor security bulletins for potential concerns.

Dedicated Facilities

The Child Care Wing includes a private bathroom for potty breaks. Nursing mothers are free to use our mothers' room complete with rocking chairs, changing table, and a sink.

A Fun, Loving Environment to Learn and Grow

We go to great lengths to provide a fun environment for little ones. Your child will love coming to church at Grace. Here’s why:

Consistency

Our child care staff follow a consistent service schedule, so both you and your child will get to know them well. Our workers will quickly learn your child’s habits, preferences, and special dietary needs. They’ll let you know if they see something out-of-the-ordinary.

Games, Crafts, & Bible Truth

Toddlers and kindergarteners enjoy structured activities, including special trips to our Play Room and Craft Room. They’ll also take part in fun, simple Bible lessons on topics such as the creation and the Trinity.

Learn More

Want to know more about child care at Grace? Check out our Child Care Guidelines.

Registration

When you first visit our childcare facility, you must stop at the Welcome Desk to register your child/children ages newborn to Kindergarten. At the Welcome Desk, the Childcare Coordinator will give you a welcome packet containing our Childcare Handbook and emergency procedures, and ask you to fill out a registration card with your basic contact information. The Childcare Coordinator will then show you to your child’s room to check-in.

At check-in, both you and your child will receive matching tags. Please do not lose your tag; you will need it to check-out your child. Your child’s tag will be attached to his or her clothing.

If you bring any items for your child (sippy cups, pacifiers, bottles, blankets, or diaper bags), please make sure that they are labeled with his or her name. You may also write down any special instructions for your child when you check them into their classroom.

Additional Guidelines

You are welcome to borrow a childcare pager, available at the Welcome Desk. Please wear your pager at all times. If an issue arises the childcare staff will notify you, and your pager will vibrate and display a text message.

If your child is in diapers, please provide enough diapers and wipes for the amount of time that you plan to leave you child in the classroom. If your child is potty training or already trained, the childcare staff will take them to a nearby restroom. Please bring a change of clothes for your child in case of an accident.

If your child has been ill within the previous 24 hours (fever, coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, and uncommon rashes) please do not bring him or her to the childcare facility. Please understand that, for the health of the other children, we cannot permit your ill child to be admitted. If your child begins to feel ill during a service, we will contact or page you promptly.

We provide age-appropriate snacks in all of our classrooms. If your child has a food allergy, please alert the Welcome Desk and your child’s caregiver. If you bring a special snack, our staff will make sure to give it to your child.

Only parents/caregivers that have the tag may pick up their children. Our childcare staff will verify that your tag matches the tag of the child being released to you. Children cannot be released to their siblings under age 18. If you have borrowed a pager, please return it to the classroom or the Welcome Desk at this time. The check-out process may take a few extra moments, but these procedures are designed for the safety of the children.

One Mission

Our singles ministry exists to further the mission of Grace Church of Mentor by providing spiritual nurturing in small, familiar units. It is our heart to evangelize and equip unmarried young men and women to have lives that reflect God's glory.

The backbone to any society is the home. God has designed the home along with the local church to be the spiritual influence in the community. Without the strength of these two God-given units, our culture would spiritually wander. So the spiritual development of young homes is a high priority at Grace Church.
